FAQs about the BigCommerce & Happy Returns integration

Today, Happy Returns was excited to announce the first end-to-end returns solution for BigCommerce merchants. As Happy Returns CEO and Cofounder David wrote, Happy Returns is proud to be the only returns management provider to offer a robust, branded return solution on BigCommerce, Magento, and Shopify. This integration makes the new solution available to thousands of BigCommerce merchants with a complimentary two-month trial of our online returns software

This integration is also meaningful for me personally, as it was my first project at Happy Returns. Just before joining the company, I attempted to return some shoes. I was frustrated to find that I needed to purchase a new box and label to exchange them. The experience was a hassle and lowered my likelihood to buy shoes from that retailer again.

As a member of the Happy Returns team, it’s now refreshing to play a part in delivering a fantastic, easy return experience—for shoppers and retailers—and to expand Happy Returns’ services to a vast amount of additional retailers through this project. I hope they can now protect customers from the bad experience I had, especially now that it’s even more common to rely on eCommerce to make our purchases.

Following are answers to frequently asked questions about the integration and partnership.

What is Happy Returns?

Happy Returns’ software and reverse logistics are the industry’s only comprehensive returns solution. Its Return Bar network of over 700 Return Bars nationwide allow shoppers to easily return without printing or packaging in under 60 seconds and receive refunds immediately. All items bulk-ship inside eco-friendly, reusable boxes—leveraging low carrier rates and aggregated shipping for economies of scale—to Happy Returns’ regional Return Hubs, where they are sorted, dispositioned, and processed.

Customers using Happy Returns’ full offering average 20% cost savings, a 94 NPS, 50% program adoption, and up to 2X higher exchange rates. Happy Returns guarantees 10% savings in the first year. Happy Returns is based in Los Angeles, California. Its investors include PayPal, USVP, and Upfront Ventures.

What is the integration between BigCommerce and Happy Returns, and why does it matter?

Happy Returns is proud to be the only returns management provider with robust, branded return flows on BigCommerce, Magento, Shopify, and Solidus. BigCommerce is Happy Returns’ second fully-integrated platform, after Shopify. We were honored to substantially support BigCommerce as they built their return APIs.

Until now, BigCommerce’s native return feature required manual processing from BigCommerce merchants’ customer experience teams.

The integration now allows BigCommerce merchants to:

  • Offer their customers an industry-leading online return experience

  • Support refund types that include refunds and site credit

  • Support return methods including at our 700+ Return Bars, inside retailer stores with our iPads, and by mail with our low shipping rates.

  • Quickly and easily onboard as a Happy Returns customer

More details are below.

How is BigCommerce and Happy Returns’ integration different?

Happy Returns is BigCommerce’s only return partner. We are the only major returns company with branded return flows on Shopify, Solidus, Magento, and BigCommerce. No other return provider integrates with BigCommerce.

Why is this integration important for BigCommerce merchants?

This integration allows retailers that use BigCommerce to expand their return on investment and:

  • Keep revenue and decrease refunds with site credit

  • Reduce shipping costs with our low carrier rates

  • Automate a portion of customer service, thereby reducing costs further

  • Reduce reverse logistics costs with aggregated shipping, via our nationwide network of 700+ Return Bars

  • Make their supply chain eco-friendly with the industry’s only cardboard-free returns program, to those who opt-in

What else does the BigCommerce and Happy Returns integration include?

This release gives BigCommerce merchants that opt-in the following capabilities:

  • Customize the branding and 'look and feel' of their online return flow

  • Allow returns for shipped items

  • Customizable return windows for refunds and site credit

  • Customizable return period by date

  • Customizable return reasons and inspection checks

  • Refund at carrier scan or at verification

  • A new and improved dashboard giving retailers control of customer returns, admin access, analytics, and reporting

Retailers that use BigCommerce to store order, transaction, and inventory data can also activate Happy Returns’ exchange functionality, including our One-Click Exchange feature, which dynamically suggests exchanges to shoppers based on the item being returned, the return reason, and item inventory. This feature is unique in the industry and has been shown to generate the highest exchange rates available. It may also be available to retailers using third-party order management systems, depending on the configuration.

What BigCommerce merchants use Happy Returns?

The first BigCommerce merchant to launch with the new service is Chicago jeweler Dana Rebecca Designs

Dana Gordon, CEO of Dana Rebecca Designs said, “We're excited to be the first to take advantage of the BigCommerce & Happy Returns partnership.”

How can BigCommerce merchants get started with Happy Returns?
