Retailing Happy Returns opens 100th in-person return desk in L.A. mall

Happy Returns had 50 locations at the start of the year. Now it's opening its 100th Return Bar this week.
And the Santa Monica, California, startup plans to have 220 by the end of 2018.
The company, which puts return desks for e-tailers in shopping centers and stores, has set up its 100th location at the newly remodeled Westfield Century City.
The opening marks Happy Returns’ third location in a Westfield mall in Los Angeles, along with Westfield Topanga and Westfield Santa Anita, and eighth Westfield property nationwide.
“We are excited to hit this company milestone and thrilled to have the 100th location be here in Los Angeles at an iconic location with a long-standing partner,” said Happy Returns co-founder and CEO David Sobie in a statement. “Our rapid growth and expanding set of partners demonstrates the utility of our service for all stakeholders in the return transaction.”
“We are excited to build on our longstanding relationship with Happy Returns to bring this valuable service to Century City,” added Jeff Adams, vice president of customer service at Westfield, saying that the service helps “make our guests’ physical and digital shopping experiences seamless, frictionless and hassle-free.”
The company’s other location partners include mall operators Simon, Macerich and Taubman; national retailers such as Paper Source and 7-Eleven; regional retailers such as Storables in the Pacific Northwest and Cole Hardware in the San Francisco Bay Area; and neighborhood stores and boutiques such as Petals & Wax in Los Angeles, Woods Grove in New York and Neighborly in Chicago.
Location partners in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago are converting a quarter to half of first-time returners during the same visit.
The company’s 100 Return Bars can be found in 17 different metro areas in the U.S., including 14 of the largest 15 cities by population, and accepts returns for its original client Tradesy as well as Everlane, Carbon 38, Eloquii, Rothy's, City Chic and Yosi Samra.
Happy Returns is located at the Westfield Century City concierge desk on Level 1 near Macy’s and across from Sephora.
