With all the current activity in the United States against vaping, its worth looking at one of the major contributing factors. The Tobacco Master Settlement was agreed around twenty years ago and as part of it the following payments to states were agreed in perpetuity
- 2001: $5 billion
- 2002-2003: $6.5 billion
- 2004-2007: $8 billion
- 2008-2017: $8.139 billion (plus $861 million to the strategic fund)
- 2018 on: $9 billion
When your looking at such vast figures now does the resistance to a product that seriously affects tobacco revenue make sense?
